Frans de Waal was always willing to share his understanding of the World and Primates—thus deepening understanding of ourselves—with students, colleagues, and community members across the world. In 2009-2010 we used his book (with overarching theme) as the "Common Experience" at San Diego State University, and he (as always) was as gracious as he was inspiring. To his family, his friends, and the world, we extend our heartfelt condolences.
